Rome as Extended Campus to Pantheon Center Students

From the window of the Pantheon Center campus in the Piazza della Rotonda, one can see the glorious exterior of the Pantheon, the ancient temple nearly two thousand years old. Student apartments are located nearby in the historic center of the Eternal City. Living in the city’s beautiful historic district, an area characterized by open air cafés, quaint outdoor markets, timeless monuments, and all the vibrant rhythms of a modern city, students are offered an unparalleled opportunity to sample Rome at its finest. Within easy walking distance from both the campus and the apartments are some of Rome’s most famous sights, including the Piazza di Spagna, Fontana di Trevi, Campo de Fiori, Piazza Venezia, and the Vatican museums. Students benefit not only from free access to Center facilities for all their academic and personal needs, but also from having the splendors of Rome at their doorsteps, waiting to be explored. Within this setting, one can understand how the city of Rome acts as an extended classroom to students enrolled at the Pantheon Center.

I hope to study in Rome in the future.

I used to spend summers there with my family as my father was born in Palermo, Sicily but then moved to the mainland ages ago.
I have to improve my Italian first though.

Rome and the Abruzzo Region are similar in many ways. Rome’s well-known effectiveness in preservation and restoration of its architecture and culture could be the example that Abruzzo needs to look to in its efforts to rebuild. Rome has the resources and capabilities to be of service to the people of L’Aquila who have been forced from their homes after the 2009 earthquake.

This post is one piece to a string of images and coments to bring awareness to the recent earthquake in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Towns such as L’Aquila and Castelvecchio Calvisio are left damaged and crumbled from this unfortunate event. Rome is an example of restoration and preservation not only of architecture and art, but of culture. In this way, Rome can be an example and even help to the Abruzzo region because of its familiarity with these issues.
